ADL Smartcare specialises in impacting age-related functional decline in practice. Our co-founder's paper on New Horizons in Compression of Functional Decline forms the basis of our approach to healthy ageing. We follow the WHO (World Health Organization) definition of healthy ageing, which describes itas 'the process of developing and maintaining the functional ability that enables wellbeing in older age. Functional ability is about having the capabilities that enable all people to be and do what they have reason to value.'
We are interested in working with researchers in the field of non-pharma healthy ageing. Our particular interest is how healthy ageing can be impacted through various interventions, specifically: exercises, compensatory equipment, and reabling care. This could be through new interventions, new understanding, business models around cost-benefit analysis, app-based interventions, etc. Over many years, we have built a significant body of evidence that allows us to provide a wide range of insight into the impact of various interventions.
If you are interested in working with us, please provide a summary of the hypothesis you are interested in exploring, your approach to any ethical challenges, proposed funder and any other relevant information. We also collaborate with product designers, manufacturers and others who would like to better understand the suitability and effectiveness of specific products in the context of healthy ageing.
