SmartAssist
Supported Self-Assessment for local advice and equipment
to help with everyday living.
SmartAssist gives you the ability to perform unique supported
self-assessments for aids to daily living e.g. raised toilet seats,
bath boards, tap turners etc. You can perform assessments by
yourself or with the help from a friend or relative. You can assess
a number of problems by answering three areas of questions and
receiving detailed product information which matches your specific
requirements. These products can be ordered privately through mail
order, local dealers or from the local Social Services (if
available in your area).
"The best IT
implementation they have ever experienced." - Service Manager
The matching process produces specific products/services that
are matched to your personal profile based on:
- Personal attributes such e.g. height
- Environmental constraints e.g. bath width
- Personal capability e.g. range of knee movement
We only ask sufficient questions to enable us to provide
specific solutions and this takes around 1/3rd the time of a
typical comparison site. With users aged from 18 - 99 and including
those with minimal IT skills, most people can find something to
help them in a few minutes. For those who do not have time for the 5
to 15 minutes it takes to complete an assessment they can use three
other options for support; an online catalogue, a simple
product/advice selection tool and general advice from NHS
Choices.
"I believe this system
is a huge step forward for disabled people." - Service
User
SmartAssist comes with full back office support through SmartCare. This
allows a Local Authority to view the assessments as they happen in
the region. If a Service User requests help with the assessment
process, a member of staff in the Local Authority can continue the
assessment from where the Service User left off, enabling an
efficient level of service.
If the Service User falls outside of the scope of SmartAssist
the Local Authority can use SmartCare for a detailed referral
including the problems experienced, environmental measurements and
analysis on why local or national equipment were not matched to the
Service User.
"It was absolutely
fantastic and easy to use. It speeds up the process, cuts the need
for waiting and also gives you more diversity as you can get a
range of advice online." - Service User
