Questions:

Is my data secure?

Yes. All our visitors use SmartAssist through an encrypted SSL certificate (the gold padlock) so the information between our servers and your browser are secure. Our systems are hosted on dedicated servers in an enterprise class data centre. Your data does not leave this facility.

Can we host the systems in our internal network?

All our systems are linked to each other through the Knowledge Network. The Knowledge Network is the local and national best practise resource which matches equipment and advice to a users environment and personal capability. As this knowledge is changing every day with new products or existing reasoning updated, it just is not possible for our systems to be hosted elsewhere.

Do you provide any API's so we can query your reasoning?

If you are interested in this please contact us.

What is SmartRetailer?

When a user completes an assessment, uses SmartAssist Light or the online product catalogue they can see where to buy equipment locally or through a national mail order supplier. SmartRetailer is the ability for you to have your information on SmartAssist or SmartCare as one of these providers. We have clever systems to help you maintain your information in the systems including notifications of new orders, back office support and ecommerce facilities.

So you only show a product if you can sell it?

No, if we do not have an agreement with a supplier we still show the product as information only so the user can print and purchase elsewhere. We are completely independent of manufacturers or retailers. No area of SmartAssist or SmartCare is sponsored by an organisation.

Why do I need to register for a full supported self-assessment(Option A)?

We have to make sure you are within the local authority providing SmartAssist as the assessment is based on local and national best practise with some authorities providing equipment from Adult Services. As the assessment could be referred into the service or used in a clinic environment we have to collect some personal information. Another reason for registering is the ability for you to come back to the assessment at a later date or if you wish to assess for multiple problems as SmartAssist auto completes your answers from previous assessments.

What is SmartAssist Light (Option B)?

Option B is a free tool we provide with SmartAssist for those users who do not want to register or do not have time to perform an assessment (option A). A user ticks one or more problems/activities which then shows the generic equipment linked to the problems/activities. This is not an assessment and does not match users to equipment or advice.

Can we customise the look of SmartAssist and SmartCare?

Yes, the system can be fully customised to your local branding including fonts, colours, images, corporate banners.

What is the advantage of a mediated assessment over afacilitated assessment?

Mediated and Facilitated assessments are designed for different circumstances so it is difficult to describe them in terms of one having an advantage over an another.

The Facilitated Assessment

SmartAssist is the ADL SmartCare Limited self assessment tool and is primarily designed for users who do not normally approach social services for advice or assistance. It takes the user through the various stages of identifying the user's problem(s), capabilities and their environment.

Once completed the system will advise the user of equipment that is available for their circumstances and if, for any reason appropriate equipment is not recommended they are signposted to another agency (GP, District Nurse, Adult Services etc.)

As some users may not feel confident, or English is not their first language, a friend or relative and in some cases a charitable body like Age Concern can complete the assessment documentation on their behalf as the "facilitator".

The functionality of SmartAssist is limited to that which is appropriate for completion by a member of the public without knowledge of Occupational Therapy.

The Mediated Assessment

SmartCare is the ADL SmartCare Limited assessment tool and is designed for professional or trained users to speed the normal Adult Services assessment process for those service users with straightforward needs.

The trained assessor collects into the system all the appropriate data relating to the service users problem(s) capabilities and environment in a face to face situation thereby enabling a more holistic approach to the assessment.

The mediated assessor has access to the full functionality of SmartCare, can place orders direct with stores for items of equipment recommended, and where the system does not recommend a solution can use the analysis tool to identify the "problematic" issue and offer an alternative (depending on their level of training) or refer direct to a professional for resolution. The mediated assessor can also input search for individual relevant assessments and complete Adult Service forms where relevant.

As the record of the mediated assessment is available to the Occupational Therapist a solution can most times be identified by requesting a few more items of information.

Where a solution was clinically constrained the OT can advise the service user of the necessary steps to be taken. Live information and reports are viewable by managers as required

What reports do you provide?

We provide you with a dedicated area of SmartCare just for reports. These include a set of generic reports but we can also add local reports you may use all of which can be saved to Excel with access controls and encryption.

I have a query about some of the reasoning in the system

Please let us know through the feedback features of SmartCare. We love hearing from the professionals running clinics or using our systems and have a close relationship with most. If there is something you are querying we will feed it into the clinical reasoning seasons for review and update the Knowledge Network accordingly.

What payment options are available for purchasing equipmentthrough SmartAssist?

We accept the following credit or debit cards as payment method for purchasing equipment through SmartAssist:

  • Visa,
  • MasterCard,
  • Visa Debit,
  • Visa Delta,
  • Visa Electron,
  • Maestro,
  • Solo
