The ADL Smartcare Research Office is based at the
Campus for Ageing and Vitality at Newcastle University. Here we
work with top academics to find and develop leading edge science
and technology that can be employed to improve outcomes and
cost-efficiency within the field of health & social care.
Our Head of Research is Prof Garth Johnson FREng who is renowned
for his work in the application of Engineering to healthcare.
We are the only company working in the field of decision support
systems in the UK, that has a dedicated Research Office, building
the tools and systems of the future. Also working with professional
educators, industry and retailers, we encourage collaborations
that improve our capabilities, improve the education of
professionals and improve the quality and suitability of products
coming onto the market.
Following a recent agreement we now have access to high-end
state-of-the-art statistical analysis tools that along with the
huge amounts of (non-personalised) data can provide unique insights
into product design and the problems of community-dwelling older
people.
